Google MySpace deal looks inviting for PPC advertisers
The news that Google has done a $900 million deal to run AdWords on News Corp interactive sites including Myspace.com caught my eye today, partly because I’ve been monitoring the potential value of MySpace to our clients for a while now.
So why is the Google/MySpace deal important?
Reason 1: PPC advertising on MySpace could help you reach a sizeable market.
MySpace is big. It’s supposed to be the fourth most popular English-language Website on the planet, with nearly 100 million registered users.
According to a recent search I did on MySpace, there are an incredible 605 MySpace members within just 5 miles of our office in rural Kent (any clients who’ve visited our office before will know just how rural we are!).
Reason 2: PPC advertising on MySpace will help you target the youth market.
Further analysis of our 605 neighbours shows that nearly 56% are aged between 18-21, and an amazing 75% are aged between 18-25. This means an Adwords PPC campaign on the Content Network, site-targeted to MySpace, could be really lucrative for youth related products and services like fashion, music, leisure and so on.
It’ll be interesting to see what other Fox Interactive Media sites get Googled in the future such as…..
